The Club at Kukui‘ula Community Benefit Fund

2025 Grantees

The advisory board takes the responsibility of allocating your donations seriously and use a very thorough process in vetting the potential fund recipients. During this year’s process we visited many organizations and saw first-hand the wonderful work that is being done to provide safe, healthy, enriching activities to help Kaua‘i’s youth develop character and skills that will lead to productive lives.

We are very proud to congratulate the following non-profit organizations that were awarded grants for 2025.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kauaʻi

Grant funds will be used to provide outings for approximately 30 youth and their mentor matches, helping to strengthen relationships that lead to improved academic performance, social-emotional well-being, and positive life choices. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kauaʻi’s mission is to build and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the biggest possible futures for local youth.

Boys & Girls Club

Grant funds will support programming in the areas of Character and Leadership, Education and Career, Health and Life Skills, Sports and Fitness, and the Arts for approximately 250 youth. The funds directly benefit their West Kauai Club, St. Theresa School Club and the Lihue Clubhouse. Their mission is to enable all young people—especially those in need the most—to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

Girl Scouts of Hawaiʻi

Grant funds will be used to provide Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) to 220 Kauaʻi Girl Scouts ranging in age from 5 to 18 years old in grades K-12. This includes 80 girls from low-income families that will benefit from the After School Leadership Program which serves several Title 1 schools on the south and west side of Kauaʻi.

Growing Our Own Teachers on Kauaʻi

Grant funds will be used to assist aspiring teachers with scholarships during their student teaching semester. They agree to teach on Kauai for 3 years after being credentialed. It provides an incentive for teachers to remain on island to teach and provide consistency in our classrooms and schools.

Hālau Ka Lei Mokihana O Leināʻala

Grant funds will go toward costumes, flowers, lei, implements, meals, etc. for the halau’s participation in the Queen Lili‘uokalani Keiki Hula Competition on Oahu, July 24-26, 2025. A total of 25 of the halau’s youngest dancers will have the opportunity to make this profound journey of cultural pride while learning, growing and carrying forward important Hawaiian traditions.

Hawaiʻi Children’s Theatre

Grant funds will be used to expand HCT Academy to support year-round programming, maintain operations, and offer scholarships for tuition. HCT provides 150+ youth from diverse socio-economic backgrounds to explore their artistic talents, foster a sense of community, develop creative problem-solving skills, and build confidence and self-esteem.

Hawaiʻi State Junior Golf Association

Grant funds will be used to help grow the First Tee-Hawaii on Kauaʻi. Helping youth participants develop not only their athletic abilities but also essential life skills that extend far beyond the golf course: Character development; life skills education; inclusivity and access; health and wellness; community building; scholarship opportunities; leadership development; inspiration for the next generation.

Kauaʻi Film Academy

Grant funds will go toward purchase of new filmmaking equipment, infrastructure improvements, and expanded learning opportunities for students on Kauaʻi. The Kauaʻi Film Academy provides approximately 50-65 young aspiring filmmakers with opportunities to learn the art of creating feature-length films, and learning various filmmaking roles behind the scenes, paving the way for successful careers in the movie industry.

Kauaʻi Police Activities (KPAL)

Grant funds will be used for equipment, supplies, uniforms, for participation insurance, referees and national registrations fees, plus expenses for youth off island tournaments. KPAL is devoted to developing character, self-discipline and healthy lifestyles among Kauai’s youth through programs such as: Sports (basketball, boxing, wrestling, jiu-jitsu, flag football); Mentorship and Resiliency Development; Educational Programs; and Community Service. There are 600+ youth in various programs on south and west Kauai, and 1,000+ island wide.

Kauaʻi Sailing Association

Grant funds will be used to purchase a new 18-foot sailboat and trailer to serve as a transition boat for kids to move up from smaller boats and prepare them for their large 30-foot sailboats for racing and sails to Oahu. The Kauaʻi Sailing Association teaches life skills and marine awareness to approximately 250-300 youth through sailing instruction, marine education and community outreach.

Kawaikini New Century Charter School

Grant funds will go toward new modular classrooms and the removal of four large Albizia trees near classrooms to keep students safe. Kawaikini’s mission is to create a productive community of bilingual and biliterate citizens in a supportive K-12 learning environment where indigenous cultural knowledge is valued, applied and perpetuated. In the 2024-2025 school year, their population consisted of 174 students.

Kauaʻi Community College - Automotive Technology Program

Grant funds will be used to purchase tools, equipment and supplies to enhance hands-on training, upgrade technology, and improve workforce readiness in the Automotive Technology Program. This program is designed to equip students with the technical skills, industry knowledge, and practical experience necessary to succeed as automotive technicians and pursue rewarding careers in the automotive industry.

Kauaʻi Community College - Carpentry Technology Program

Grant funds will be used to purchase essential tools, materials, and technology upgrades to enhance training, strengthen student skills and expand career opportunities. The Carpentry Technology Program prepares students for careers in the construction industry with hands-on training in carpentry, blueprint reading, safety protocols, and industry best practices. The program supports graduates entering the carpenter’s apprenticeship program, helping to meet the needs of the local construction trades sector.

Kauaʻi Community College - Cognition Education Center (COGs)

Grant funds will be used to develop new exhibits and refresh classroom mobile kits—such as ozobots and circuits sets—to engage more students in hands-on learning and empower them to bring their ideas to life. The funds will also support the creation of additional events to showcase student projects and foster stronger community connections.

Kauaʻi Community College - Nursing Program

Grant funds will be used to support students by providing essential learning resources and by maintaining and upgrading nursing simulation equipment critical for hands-on training. This includes access to real-life medication administration and delivery devices to promote safe and effective patient care. These investments ensure nursing students are equipped with the tools, support and practical experience needed to excel in their education and future healthcare careers.

Keala Foundation

Grant funds will support Keala Foundation’s 3rd Annual Kekaha Family Fun Run, held on July 4th, which promotes family engagement and healthy living on Kauaʻi’s west side. Keala Foundation is dedicated to creating a free and safe community for youth through after-school programs, engaging prevention initiatives, service projects, wellness activities, and 30-day intervention programs designed to support at-risk youth across the island of Kauaʻi

Kumano I Ke Ala

Grant funds will be used to support Kumano I Ke Ala’s year-round ‘aina-based youth programming, including intersession break programs and K-12 school visits. Kumano I Ke Ala’s mission is to build a foundation of Aloha ‘Aina through culturally grounded Native Hawaiian educational and farming programs that cultivate self-aware, self-determined and self-directed critical thinkers committed to a sustainable Hawaii. The organization serves over 1,400 participants.

Kumu’s Cupboard

Grant funds will be used to continue providing free classroom supplies for educators, helping them support student learning without bearing out-of-pocket expenses. This volunteer-run organization operates with no overhead costs, as storefront space has been generously donated. Currently, it serves over 450 educators and benefits between 8,000 to 10,000 students annually.

Little Miso Bookmobile

Grant funds will be used to expand access to early literacy resources, promote school readiness, and support families as a child’s first teachers. The program strengthens community connections by offering literacy initiatives for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers, including a mobile lending library and interactive youth literacy programs. To date, Little Miso Bookmobile has served over 2,507 children and distributed more than 1,206 books, helping lay a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Waiʻaleʻale Project @ Kauaʻi Community College

Grant funds support scholarships and resources for students, including tuition, fees, books, tools, uniforms and other essential expenses. Continuing students are provided resources for program activities, including food and school supplies. Supporting more than 130 students annually, participants build confidence, develop life- skills, discover purpose, and enter meaningful careers, becoming role models in their communities, while cultivating a strong sense of belonging and kuleana (responsibility).

Wilcox Health Foundation - Nurses Aid Program

Grant funds will be used to purchase classroom lab equipment, software, and support the employment of a qualified nurse educator to sustain clinical training programs for Kauaʻi’s High School Health Care Academy. Wilcox Health’s clinical education programs offer hands-on training, national certification and job opportunities for teens pursuing careers in healthcare on Kauaʻi. Last school year, the program served 17 students from Kapa’a High School and Waimea High School.
