The Club at Kukui‘ula Community Benefit Fund

Investing in Kauaʻi's youth.
Building brighter futures.

The Club at Kukuiʻula Community Benefit Fund, managed by the Hawai‘i Community Foundation, supports Kauaʻi-based non-profits focusing on education, health, and enriching activities for Kauaʻi’s youth. The Fund’s Advisory Board takes the responsibility of allocating your donations seriously and thoughtfully with a thorough process in vetting potential recipients and seeing first-hand the work being done to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of many keiki in Kauaʻi.

Benefit fund FAQS

The Kukui‘ula Community Benefit Fund was first planned in 2019 by Club members Richard Albrecht, Mary Bea Porter-King, Tom Putnam and Ron Verstappen. Through their involvement in the local community, they each saw the incredible needs on Kaua‘i, and the potential to give kids a much better chance of becoming healthy productive individuals. They saw the opportunity to bring Club members together to support youth development on Kaua‘i.

The beginning of the COVID Pandemic in 2020 provided the sense of urgency, as a huge group of Club members were asking for ways, they could help people on Kaua‘i. During the Pandemic, with the exceptional generosity of the members, the Benefit Fund supported needy families who were out of work, as well as provided assistance for Club employees working reduced hours. As the community returned to work, the Benefit Fund refocused on the long-term mission of supporting Youth Development Programs making a positive impact on the lives of Kaua‘i’s children.

Many Kukui‘ula members are interested in donating to the people of Kaua‘i but may not know which groups need the donations. The Kukui‘ula Community Benefit Fund Advisory Board conducts research to ensure that contributions are used effectively for various non-profit organizations.

Since 2020, over 80 non-profits have received more than $1.6 million in grants from the Kukui‘ula Community Benefit Fund, helping thousands of Kaua‘i children and residents.

The Kōkua Fund is a small portion of The Kukui‘ula  Community Benefit Fund that is directed by a group of Club employees. The goal is to inspire volunteerism in the community among Club employees, and support them as they actively volunteer in the community, by making small contributions to the organizations where they are active. The Kōkua Fund provides grants ranging from $250 to $1,000, supporting things such as Little League Baseball Teams, Rodeos, and hula events.
