      Kōkua Fund

      The Kōkua Fund is supported by Kukuiʻula Member contributions to The Club at Kukuiʻula Community Benefit Fund and is managed by the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation. It’s dedicated to supporting grassroots non-profit organizations that are nominated by an employee for personally impacting that employee and providing much-needed services to the youth in our Kaua;i community. The Kōkua Fund also hopes to inspire volunteerism amongst employees.

          FAQs

          Who can nominate a nonprofit for a grant?

          Any employee of The Club at Kukuiʻula, BBCP Associates Hawaii, Inc. (Kukuiʻula Development), Kukuiʻula Realty, to include Spa therapists, Security team and The Lodge at Kukuiʻula employees can submit a nomination form. There is no limit to the number of nominations an employee may submit.

          How do I submit a nomination?

          Nomination forms can be picked up from/turned in to The Club Talent office or from/to Shelly Gerardo at the Development/Mauka Offices, or online by clicking here.

          What are qualifications for a nonprofit to be eligible for a grant?

          Nominated organizations must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in good standing.

          What are the criteria to be considered for a grant?

          The volunteer employee review committee reviews, ranks, and allocates funding to organizations based on the following criteria:

          1. Connection to an employee (this is by far the most important criteria);
          2. Serving youth in areas of education, health, arts, and those in need (e.g., high-risk, low-income, under served). “Youth” is defined as 21 and below for this grant.
          3. Overall impact of the grant award on the program/organization; and
          4. Serving the youth in the community.

          What kind of awards are expected from this fund?

          Awards are expected to range from $250 to $1,000, depending on the amount of funds available and the number and quality of eligible nominations receied.

          When should nomination forms be submitted?

          Nomination forms should be submitted 4-6 weeks prior to organization’s event/deadline to allow for committee to review and HCF processing. Nomination forms are due on the last Thursday of the month. The Employee Review Committee will review submitted forms on the first Thursday of each month.

          The Kōkua Fund is supported by the contributions to The Club at Kukuiʻula Community Benefit Fund by its members and managed by the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation. It’s dedicated to supporting grass roots non-profit organizations that are nominated by an employee for personally impacting that employee and providing much needed services to the youth in our community. It is also meant to inspire a sense of volunteerism in the community among our employees.

          Employees may nominate an organization that is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in good standing. Our volunteer employee review committee will review, rank, and allocate funding to organizations based on the following criteria:

          1. Involvement of an employee as a volunteer or connection to an employee. (This is by far the most important criteria.)
          2. Serving youth in the areas of education, health, arts, and those in need (e.g., high-risk, low-income, under-served.) “Youth” is defined as 21 years and below for this grant.
          3. Overall impact of the grant award on the program/organization.

          Please attach a letter or flyer requesting a donation from the non-profit organization and complete the following form. All information must be included for nomination to be considered.
